Danube Easy Guided Bike&Cruise Tour Passau-Budapest-Passau 2026 2027

Arrival at Passau, Germany, boarding the ship

We are welcome on board at the end of the afternoon. First, we will meet to go there between 3 and 4 pm. This meeting will take place close to the railway station of Passau. We will check out our cabins and have our first dinner on board. Our guide(s) will welcome you, explain what’s ahead, discuss safe biking, and provide other information about what to expect in the coming days. The ship will start sailing while we are having dinner en cruise through the evening until arriving at Schloegen at midnight.

Starting on the Danube Bike Path, cycling 55 km Schloegen to Linz (Austria)

Our bikes will be fitted at Schloegen and off we go! Our first ride is a special one right away: it’s a famous part of the Danube: the „Schlögener Schlinge“ which has been appointed a „Natural Wonder of Austria“ in 2008.
This rarity, called epigenetic cross valley, was being generated when the Danube carved its way through the soft layers of the Tertiary and created its meander-formed river bed, in the hard granitic rock. Because of the elevation of the landmass later on, the Danube carved itself nearly 300m into the ground and thereby created the dell, which almost forms a full circle. We cycle to Linz in Austria

Tulln to Vienna 31 or 51 km (Austria)

The city of flowers, Tulln is a lovely town, home of the Tulln Garden Exhibition. On our way, we will have a lovely view of the outskirts of the Vienna Forest, a very important “green lung” for the area and therefore designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO – a designation for areas with a special cultural and natural landscape. We will visit the Klosterneuburg Monastery, which is known not only for its vineyards but also for its 11th-century altar. After our tour here, we will continue to cycle to Vienna and explore the city with a local guide.

At night, there is an option to join the bus ride through Vienna.

The ship sails after 23.00.

Komarno to Esztergom 56 k.

Along the Danube Cycle Path, we visit Komarno, including its Europa square and the fortress. We then cycle along the Roman castle remains of Kélemantia to Sturovo in Slovenia, with Esztergom and its impressive Dom on the other side of the river, on the Hungarian side. We will arrange a visit to the Dom, and you’ll want to take a picture of yourself in front of the enormous door!

The day ends with a sail into Budapest, which you want to witness from the sundeck of the ship. Beautiful experience, it is a top attraction to see the buildings and bridges after sunset.

Budapest - Cycling and sightseeing

Today we will use our bikes to go sightseeing. We can enjoy the 100% car-free bicycle road through the inner city and further on to the Margareteninsel, a lovely recreational area in the middle of Budapest. We will also cycle to the historic centre where you can visit the Fishermans Bastion, the Matthiaschurch, the Offices and Residences of the President and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Museums, and Sculptures. A must-see area.

From there, it is only 20 minutes to cycle back to the ship. We have all day. The ship will sail out of Budapest at 5 pm, giving you a last look at the places we have visited during the day.

Bratislava, cycle tour to Devin 33 km or 55 km via Heinburg back to Bratislava (Slovakia, Austria)

While we are having breakfast, the ship is approaching another great capital: Bratislava. We will arrive there at around noon. We are in Slovakia now!

Our cycle tour will take us to Devin, a National Monument with great views. We will then travel to the Castle of Hof in Austria and return to the ship in Bratislava.

We will also offer a guided walking tour through Bratislava, before we start cycling

Krems - Marbach, 53 km (Austria)

This part of the Danube Radweg is outstandingly beautiful. We are in Austria and will pass some vineyards, castles, monasteries, and the like. Starting in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Krems, we visit Durnstein, a little village that attracts tourists from all over the world.

Let’s move on, through the wine-growing region and its villages, to the very impressive Monastery of Melk, worth cycling or walking up to. Then, we will continue along the Danube, through the romantic region of the Danube called Strudengau. Our last cycle destination is Marbach, where the Primadonna awaits us. It is time to hand in our bikes. During dinner, we can enjoy one last sail; the ship will arrive in Passau the next morning.

Passau, end of tour

The last night on board brings us back to Passau, where all the fun started. Passau itself is definitely worth spending another day, but we need to disembark between 8.00 and 10.00. If all goes according to plan, a bus will take us to the train station, where we will arrive around 10 a.m.
