After a morning sail from Koblenz to Bonn, we begin in Bonn, the former capital of West Germany and birthplace of Beethoven, whose music still fills the city with life. Bonn is also home to Haribo, the creators of gummy bears—visiting the factory feels like stepping into a real-life Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Stroll through the “museum mile” or relax in the Botanical Gardens at Poppelsdorf Palace, where centuries-old trees and giant water lilies create a perfect pause before the ride.
From Bonn, we cycle along the scenic Rhine, vineyards on the slopes and boats gliding past, until we reach Brühl Castle, an 18th-century Baroque masterpiece built for the archbishops of Cologne. Explore its grand halls and gardens on a guided tour and imagine the aristocrats who once walked these opulent corridors.
After a leisurely lunch break, we continue to Cologne, a city that pulses with history and energy. Wander the cobbled streets, marvel at the soaring Cologne Cathedral, and choose a restaurant for a relaxed dinner at your own pace. As night falls, return to the IRIS, docked in the heart of the city, for a peaceful overnight stay.
